March: Cute Hippie Chick Of The Month

Yes, it's time again-- for our "Cute Hippie Chick Of The Month" feature.
This one is for the Canadians out there, and it's a good performance by Avril Lavigne.
Now, I'm an old Dojo Rat, so I don't follow Pop music too closely (I'm kinda' stuck in the Allman Brothers era). But after seeing the kind of lip-synch zombie-like acts of Brittany Spears and Jessica Simpson, it's refreshing to see a young star that actually plays her own music and stands alone as a performer.
This little gal creates a very big sound, and is this month's Canadian representative for "Cute Hippie Chick Of The Month"

Though I admire your choice I will always be thankful for the ability to click "mute". Then it goes from good to great!

I'm a pig but an honest one :)

I mean how can she measure up to this artistry?

Yeah, I'm stuck in an Allman Brothers mode myself. I'm partial to 1960's and 1970's era hard rock.

I have to say, it was an interesting choice for March Hippie Chick of the Month.

Personally, among new musicians, I'm partial to Amy Winehouse. She's got a great voice and a great soul sound that hearkens back to the 60's and early 70's.

This generation needs its own stoned-out, strung-out pop singer, a la Janis Joplin or Grace Slick.

I only hope that she follows Slick's example rather than Joplin's and continues to give us good tunes for a long time instead of choking to death on her own vomit after chasing down her sleeping pills with a bottle of Southern Comfort.

Thanks for the visual H2H!
Makes me want a ham sandwich right now.

I mean she's great eye candy, but until she can scream "Reign in Blood! From the lacerated sky .. screaming in horror .." She'll be just another "Cute Hippie Chick of the Month" forever baffled why nobody caught her lyrics ...

Speaking of Metal and Chicks whatever happened to Lita Ford she had that cool duet with Ozzy.

Then that really freaky chick from the Plasmatics (I think she did a Kirk Cobain). Or the Go-Go's (now the Gone-Gone's)

How about "Cool (yet hot) Rocker chick of the month?" Ya know, variety is the spice of life. I like spice ..

Hey Sa Bum Nim P,

Always glad to help.

Yeah, there's a lot of great rocker chicks out there. I like Lita Ford, too. Last I heard, she retired and lives in Madiera Beach, Fl., one county over from me.

I also dig Lita's fellow former Runaway, Joan Jett. Another favorite rocker chick is Dale Krantz Rossington, of the Rossington Collins Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

For poetic stylings, it's hard to go wrong with Patty Smith. Her cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Because the Night" is classic!

Not to be confused with Patty Smythe from Scandal. When I was in high school, she was part of the holy trinity of hot chicks on MTV, along with Martha Quinn and Nina Blackwood.

For sheer vocal power, no woman rocker can beat Pat Benatar. I was at the Concert in New Haven which was broadcast on HBO and is available on Rhino Records.

Yeah, Wendy O. Williams did a Cobain. She was retired and married to a UCONN professor. Apparently, the life of a suburban college professor's wife was too boring for her.

BTW: Did you see her in "Reform School Girls"?
